Grapevine Bookmark

Grapevine Bookmark, (2" x 6")
Fannie Narte

This is one of three bookmarks for a trade in FAT—Fiber Art Traders. The image was painted with Neocolor II onto white fabric, and thread sketching was done with black embroidery thread.

Besides creating art, I enjoy reading books about different cultures, world and art history, art techniques and travel.

Okay, now you're really tempting me to join the book mark trade. Fannie your work never ceases to amaze me. I need to take a class from you.

Your bookmark is lovely. Do you put any backing on you piece after you stitch it?

Hi, Sherry. Come join in the trade. We could do a one-on-one if you'd like. ;-D

Hi, Jacq. I put a backing after I finish my thread sketching and before I stitch the edges.

My backing is done several ways:

1. A plain piece of fabric that matches the color scheme of the front of the piece, which is fused to the front; or,

2. My favorite: A piece of fabric, fused onto light-weight interfacing. Then I sign my name with free-motion stitching before fusing it to the back.

Thanks for your question.

I'm enjoying this bookmark series & I think this is my favorite. Grapevines have long been a favorite theme - one I have yet to tackle. I really like your interpretation of the subject.

Thanks, Regina. Grapes and grapevines are fun images to create, aren't they?
