Gift Box

Gift Box, Fabric Paper, (4" x 5" x 4")
Fannie Narte

You can create just about anything with fabric paper that you can with regular paper. Here's a Take-Out gift box made with fabric paper. I added grommets to the sides to attach a handle made with gold metallic wired ribbon. The handle is embellished with hanging beads.

The possibilities of embellishing these gift boxes are endless. You could decorate the box further by stamping, stenciling, adding inchies, charms, etc. How about stringing alphabet beads to spell your recipient's name, or to spell a message that commemorates the occasion such as "Happy Birthday," "Congratulations," or "You Are Special," and drape it on the handle.

Make a handle out of fancy yarn, raffia, torn strips of fabric, etc.

This project provides you with a blank canvas, and it allows you to stretch your imagination, personalize it, and have fun with embellishments. It will make the gift you place inside even more special.

What are your ideas for this gift box?

Very clever. Your own pattern? Let's see, I like the idea of stamping and personalizing for the specific occasion. Would also be a great idea to make a little smaller and use as party favors or wedding favors???

This is sooo pretty! I would love to try this out, once I have a little extra time on my hands. =)

Hi Fannie!
Wow! You could write and self-publish a book or an e-book with all of your projects. I would stand in line to get one!
Grommets are a genius idea!

how delightful, it would be for little special earrings or rings, just a few, not cluttered, not heavy, just tinkle when i picked it up.

Great box Fannie! There are endless things you could do with it. As for the contents....I think something bling, bling from hubby would be very nice...don't you think so?

I would create an "Art Take Out" hand work package for crafters. Maybe call it "Aunt Art-tica's box " take off on Antartica. When the weather is nice and you want to be outside there's your little take along, tag alongs (everything needed to make tags), etc.

I think morning dove has the right idea - a box kit for a project with everything necessary inside. Hmm, maybe some Pan Pastels for my granddaughter on her birthday with an accordian journal and a Pitt pen.

wow Fannie, that box is great. I think it would make a terrific purse myself. It's very sweet. You have the neatest ideas. I agree you should publish. By the way I got a very special package in the mail today. What a sweetie you are. I absolutely adore my new journal. I have never seen a moo card in person. What a nice touch and the pansy note was so cute. My postmistress, a friend Darwin and my grandkids were all amazed. I opened it at the post office, lol. Julie loves seeing any goodies I get from my art friends. Thank you so very much for being one of them. I feel so blessed. As soon as the grandkids leave tonight, all 3 are here after we took our walk and now a movie I am posting it to my blog if that is ok? I just can't say thank you enough my friend. Hugz, Scary

Sherry, my own pattern, but created from a real take-out box--with slightly different angles and different size for easy construction. Great ideas! Thanks for sharing.

Lisa, Alyssa would enjoy making fabric paper, I think. Tell her Hi for me.

Thanks, Melissa. What a nice comment.

Jacq, we could "spoil" our loved ones with these boxes. ;-D

FY, you're funny. Your writing style matches your art--light and clever. Each adjective in your sentence is purposeful and provides a visual picture: cluttered, heavy, tinkle . . . imagine . . .

Noel, bling-bling from hubby is a great idea. "Honey, look what 'you' got me for Father's Day!" ;-D

Dove, how clever. Your idea could be personalized in many ways for artists with different media preferences. I think you have a marketable idea! Alternatively, it would make any artist friend very, very happy.

Freebird, I can already see your granddaughter smiling almost as brightly as her grandmother.

Scary, time with grandkids--how special! Making memories, nice. You're very welcome!

Hi, Diana, these would hold several of your yummy cupcakes or cupcake earrings or . . . . ;-D
