A Rose Each Day

A Rose Each Day, Art Quilt, (8" x 10")
Fannie Narte

Another view.

THE INSPIRATION for "A Rose Each Day"

I love having fresh flowers in the home, especially roses. My husband would surprise me with a carnation from time to time, and he would often say, "If I could, I would give you 'a rose each day.'" That was when we were a young, struggling family. Today he surprises me with roses often. I'm blessed.

This painting was produced with Neocolor II Watersoluble Wax Pastels onto muslin and thread sketched with black thread. The background was stipple quilted using yellow thread, and the edges are finished with my signature satin stitch combination.

This quilt will be donated to AAQI to help raise funds in support of Alzheimer's research. It is dedicated to Regina Rooks and her grandmother, Geneva. Geneva died from Alzheimer's disease.

The loss of memory of an Alzheimer's patient is devastating to the patient and their families. Sometimes a sound, a picture, a word or a scent can bring back beloved memories. If I could, I would bring back long lost memories of patients with Alzheimer's with each rose.

What would you do, "if you could"?

If I could I would be an entrepreneur who would help unfortunate girls and prostitutes get off the streets. I would want them to see their value and worth.
And I would buy roses from you everyday to give to each one of them with not strings attached.
