Shadows of Autumn

Shadows of Autumn, Tag, 2.375" x 4.75"
© 2008 Fannie Narte

My interest in using tags as a surface has grown over the past year. The tag's size feels like working on an ACEO. Telling one's story on a limited space is challenging, but exciting. Simplifying an idea and adding embellishments without overdoing it is one of my challenges. Somehow I fit most of the techniques I enjoy on this tiny piece.

SHARING

Pattern tissue paper was glued to the tag with gel medium. Next, the background was painted using inks and acrylics, and stenciling and stamping were added over that. More paint to create depth, and charcoal to create shadows.

The leaf was needle felted and stitched onto its painted black shadow. A red Swarovski crystal emphasizes the focal point, and two metal hearts add texture and interest. Shadows were added to these elements. More stenciling was added to unite the piece.

CHALLENGE BLOG: TAG YOU'RE IT!

This piece is my first submission in the challenge blog "Tag You're It!" Thanks for the invite, Dawn. I look forward to more weekly challenges, growing, and friendships.

My shadows of autumn are the memories of summer. What are your shadows of autumn? Thanks for looking.

This is a stunning tag - love how you featured the leaf, and kept the background colours muted.
