Journey, Mixed Media Original Painting, 8" x 10"
© 2008 Fannie Narte

Whatever this new year brings, I wish all of you a magical, creative, inspiring and fruitful journey filled with love, hope, friends, good times, health, new adventures and surprises!

Mixed Media Monday's theme for this week is "What you loved doing in 2008." Without a doubt, I loved my mixed media online painting classes. I learned a new painting style that makes me feel like I'm at "home." Mixed media paintings allow me to incorporate text, collage, stamping, stenciling--all the different techniques I've learned over the years--into one piece. It's freeing. I don't feel confined like I did with colored pencil drawings, and its a medium that welcomes imperfection. Imperfection . . . mixed media . . . home . . . ahhhh . . . bliss . . . .

In 2010, what will I say I loved doing in 2009? What will you say?

Hi, Dove and Brenda. You both mentioned her hair. Glad you like it. I tried different techniques, including modeling paste. So far I like this the best because it works well with my gold leafing.

Happy New Year, Chrisss! I wish you a successful year of creativity and inspiration. I look forward to seeing more of your artwork and learning from you.

Yes, it's nice to feel at home, Marianne. Happy New Year to you!

Hey, Sherry. Thanks for naming my hairstyle--Peanut. Nice. You are inspiring!

Hi, Steph! Yes, it's plastic wrap. I'm glad to see you're out and about. You had me worried for a bit. Yes, I did receive your e-mail. Thanks! Happy New Year! I look forward to watching you continue to create inspiring artworks.

Nice to see you, Kerri. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas! Happy New Year!
