Stenciled Fabric Paper Gift Bag and Greeting Card

© 2009 Fannie Narte

"You are special!"

That's the message of this stenciled fabric paper gift bag. You can find the instructions to create this bag and a matching greeting card in the current issue of Fibre & Stitch, Issue 7, published by Sue Bleiweiss.

This stenciled fabric paper gift bag (8.5” x 3” x 7”) and greeting card is a project that was designed to give the artist creative freedom with unlimited possibilities.

In this article, I explain how to create my fabric paper, and include simple patterns to create and stitch this gift bag. I also explain how to personalize the bag with a stenciled image using my simple heat embossing technique.

The gift bag can be whimsical, funky, fun, traditional, Victorian or country. It's a blank canvas ready for your unique touches.

I made one of these bags for my granddaughter. It has an image of her "birdie" on the front.

This gift bag is for everyone of any age, and it has many uses besides carrying gifts. It is a handy caddy for your studio supplies. Make one for your sewing supplies, your art supplies, your mixed media supplies, or your fiber art supplies. Make one for a friend and fill it with her favorite art supplies, a journal and pen, fat quarters . . . use your imagination.

This was a fun project, and working with Sue B was a joy.

Thanks, Sue B!
