Sing, Seek, Speak Truth Handbag

Truth Handbag, height 8.5", width 11", depth 3"
© 2009 Fannie Narte

The front and back of this handbag is sort of a quilted fabric collage. A few elements were used: a printed image of my original mixed media painting onto cotton fabric, black faux leather, buttons, thread and a variety of matching fabrics.

The image for this purse was produced from my original hand painted journal.

The Inspiration for this painting:

Sometimes
the layers we inherit throughout life
covers truth.
Journal writing
helps
uncover
some of that hidden truth.

Close-up of the front

Close-up of the back

"Sing," "Seek," and "Speak" are thread sketched onto the back.

Can you find them?

The word "Seek" is difficult to find . . . thus, the definition . . . seek. ;-D

The purse has a top closure, which is made from faux leather, and it has a magnetic closure tab.

Here's a look at the inside. It has two pockets. I had difficulty photographing this purse. For help, I placed my mother's hand-woven Lauhala box inside.

Two more attempts at showing you the inside from opposite views. The inside is lined with beautiful batik fabric.

Truth . . . handbags . . . carry . . . what truth do you carry with you?

Sing, Seek, Speak . . . Truth . . .

Well, I'm just in 'awe' of your bag. Especially the batik lining. (Be-still-my-heart) I have always wanted to learn how to sew. someday . . . someday. Meanwhile-I drool over the creations of others. . . .

I found "Seek". It's above the words, "Sing" and "Speak", in the dark lattice. Hee hee. Thanks again, Fannie for sharing. It's really beautiful.
