The Winner of Pretty Little Mini Quilts

The Winner of

Pretty Little Mini Quilts

published by Lark Books and

randomly selected in a hat drawing . . . is . . .

Congratulations, Jacq!

Thanks to all who came to play in the giveaway and visited, and left thoughts and ideas about my version of Malka's "Square Deal," and read about Malka's artful life . . . This giveaway wouldn't be fun or exciting without your visits and comments. Thank you for stopping by.

HAND PAINTED FABRIC USING WAX PASTELS

The digital elements on this post were made using my newest hand painted fabric. Using an empty spool of thread, I stamped circles using white acrylic paint onto bleached muslin. After that was dry, the colored pigments were added using nine different wax pastels, blended with water, scrunched and left to dry overnight.

MAGIC HAPPENS WHEN . . .

The magic takes place while I'm asleep.

Each morning I go to my studio and open up the previous night's fabric paintings. I never know what they will look like. Like a kid in a candy store . . . or like an artist in a museum . . . or like a quilter in a fabric store . . . or . . . okay . . . I know I'm veering off again . . . but each morning is soooo exciting!

When I open up each dried and scrunched bundle of fabric and see the magic that resulted, my heart dances. Then the ideas begin to crystallize developing into playful forms, making designs in my head, and the music gets louder, and I can't wait to sew and cut and contemplate whether this piece will go over that piece or under that other piece . . .

Each piece of fabric becomes an instrument in my orchestra, each one playing its own note, but when they are all placed in the composition that's in my head . . . a beautiful symphony results . . . sweet beautiful music . . . magic!

Thanks for dancing with me. More interviews and book giveaways to come. Come again and play . . .
