How to Make a Napkin Rose -- A Tea Time Tutorial

© 2016 Fannie Narte

Make a rose napkin using store-bought or homemade napkins.  The roses pictured above (except for the rose napkin in the tea cup) are made from store-bought napkins.

I made this two-sided napkin from two cotton fabric squares, 17" x 17".

Step 1

Fold napkin into a triangle

Step 2
Bring folded edge up about one-inch.  (Tea cup with rose is used as an anchor for picture-taking purposes only.)
Step 3
Continue folding towards tip of triangle leaving about one-and-a-half to two inches unfolded.
Step 4
Turn over or "Flip It" (A funny for some of you.  You know who you are.  ;-D)
Step 5
Begin rolling folded section towards the left.  (Note:  It doesn't matter which side you roll, right or left.  Whatever side you pick, roll towards its opposite side.)
(Some words are coming to mind here, opposite:  duality, contrast, contrasting light.  ;-D)
Step 6
Keep rolling ...
and rolling until you have about two to two-and-a-half inches remaining.  I'll refer to this remaining section as the "Flap."
Next, you'll tuck the "Flap" into the fold of the rose as pictured above and below.
Step 7
Flap tucked in.  All nice and cozy.  Nite-nite.  ;-D
Step 8
Pull down points of triangle,
which will be the rose's leaves.
Make it snug and pretty, just like it says and shows in the picture above, snug and pretty, ahhhhh.
We're almost done.

Step 9
Now turn the rose over--for some of you, "Flip It" again!  Hah!  Yes, another "Flip."

Now you're D O N E !

Invite a friend to tea (or coffee) and give her or him (we're inclusive friends, right?) a homemade rose napkin (or store-bought, if you like).  Share hearts, stories and make memories.

What time is it?

It's Tea Time!
